What the diagnostic means
Google supports three machine-readable condition values: new, refurbished, and used. Condition is required for used and refurbished products; an unsupported or inaccurate submitted value can make the offer inconsistent.
Common causes
- A source system exported labels such as pre-owned, open box, or remanufactured instead of a supported value.
- The condition column was omitted for used or refurbished inventory.
- A customized, opened, repackaged, or modified item was incorrectly marked new.
- A translation or spreadsheet formula changed the expected machine-readable value.
- The feed and storefront describe the item differently.

- Use refurbished only for products professionally restored to working order with the warranty Google describes.
- Use used for second-hand, opened, customized, repackaged, or otherwise modified products when that definition applies.

- Resubmit the corrected data and verify the diagnostic after processing.

Frequently asked questions
Is open box a supported feed value?
No. Google documents only new, refurbished, and used. Decide which supported definition accurately applies to the product rather than changing the label mechanically.
Is condition required for every new product?
Google documents condition as optional for each new product and required for each used or refurbished product. Supplying an accurate value consistently can still reduce ambiguity.
Can a validator decide whether an item is refurbished?
No. It can validate the submitted word, but the merchant must confirm the restoration, warranty, product state, landing-page claims, and applicable legal requirements.
