How to fix mismatched availability in Google Merchant Center

Align availability across the product feed, selected variant, landing page, structured data, checkout, and regional shipping settings.

Reviewed against Google Merchant Center documentation on August 25, 2026. Independent guide; not affiliated with or endorsed by Google.

What the diagnostic means

Google can disapprove an offer when submitted availability differs from what a shopper or crawler finds on the product page or during checkout.

Why act: Availability is required product data. A mismatch can stop an affected offer from appearing until Google sees consistent information again.

Common causes

  • Inventory changed on the store before the feed refreshed.
  • The feed uses a non-supported value such as available, sold_out, or yes.
  • The landing page loads a different variant whose stock state does not match the feed row.
  • Product structured data or checkout reports a different state from the visible page.
  • Shipping exclusions make an in-stock product unavailable in part of the target country.

Resolution checklist

Fix it step by step

  1. Identify the exact product and variant listed in Merchant Center.
  2. Use one supported feed value: in_stock, out_of_stock, preorder, or backorder.
  3. For preorder or backorder, provide availability_date and show an aligned date on the landing page.
  4. Match the feed, visible page, Product structured data, checkout, and regional shipping behavior.
  5. Refresh the data source and verify the issue clears after Google reprocesses it.

Before you resubmit

  • Every row has one of the four supported availability values.
  • Preorder and backorder rows include a machine-readable availability_date.
  • The linked URL opens the same variant represented by the row.
  • Stock state remains consistent through checkout for the target location.

Supported value correction

Before

availability: available now

After

availability: in_stock

Frequently asked questions

Which availability values are supported?

Google documents in_stock, out_of_stock, preorder, and backorder. Use the exact machine-readable value in product data.

Can I mark a product out of stock just to pause ads?

Google recommends using the pause attribute for a temporary advertising pause. Availability should continue to describe whether a customer can actually obtain the product.

Why can a regional shipping rule cause a mismatch?

A product may look in stock in the feed but be unavailable to a shopper in a targeted location. Google’s guidance says availability and shipping coverage need to agree for supported locations.
